LaTosha Sims

Master's Level Intern

LaTosha Sims is a graduate student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Mercer University and is completing her clinical internship under the supervision of Jacinta Wills, LPC, CGS, CAMS II. Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, LaTosha values community, connection, and creating spaces where people feel seen, supported, and understood. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Human Services from Clayton State University and brings a strong background in education, leadership, and student support. Her experiences have cultivated a deep passion for helping others navigate life's challenges while encouraging personal growth, resilience, and meaningful change.

LaTosha believes counseling is about more than finding solutions; it is about building authentic relationships, creating a safe and supportive environment, and empowering individuals to recognize their strengths while navigating life's challenges. Her theoretical orientation integrates person-centered, psychodynamic, and strengths-based approaches through a trauma-informed lens. She strives to meet each client where they are, helping them explore how past experiences may influence present thoughts, emotions, and relationships while supporting lasting healing and personal growth. LaTosha has a special interest in working with individuals experiencing grief and loss, anxiety, life transitions, and couples seeking to strengthen communication, deepen connection, and navigate relationship challenges.

Outside of counseling, LaTosha enjoys reading nonfiction books, journaling, crocheting, trying new restaurants, traveling with family, and unwinding with a good TV show. Her commitment to serving others extends beyond the counseling office through volunteering in her community, supporting local schools, providing tutoring, mentoring young adults, and serving alongside her family to help those experiencing food insecurity. She believes meaningful change often begins through genuine connection, encouragement, and simply showing up for others in ways that matter.

"Healing begins when people feel seen, heard, and accepted just as they are."
