Unique McCalpin-Carter, a West Coast native, brings a Unique perspective to not only the art of counseling but to the team at 3dPsychotherapy. With joy and love of learning, the layers of counseling techniques Unique has a great affinity towards Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Systemic Therapy, Existential Therapy, Feminist Therapy, and Relational Cultural Therapy.

 

As an overachiever, Unique not only has an associate’s degree in Ethnic Studies and Social Sciences from College of San Mateo, but Unique has also tackled the world of intersectionality with a BA in Critical Race and Gender Studies from Cal Poly Humboldt. Continuing to build their education and psyche of not only Metro Atlanta but the Bay Area as well, Unique has pursued and achieved their Masters of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the illustrious Clark Atlanta University, School of Counseling Education, solidifying their place at 3d Psychotherapy, adding the world of Relational Cultural Therapy to the team as well as dedicated to the art of Counseling.

 

In their journey prior to coming to 3dPsychotherapy, Unique has served in many student support programs, including being a Student Support Coordinator at College of San Mateo, also a Student Support Coordinator at Cal Poly Humboldt. Working at Clark Atlanta University as a Graduate Assistant of Graduate Education has provided a way for Unique to support students from all higher education environments. Completing Internships at both Covenant House Georgia, A non-profit aimed at homeless youth prevention, and Atlanta Metropolitan State College, Unique is well-versed in the needs of people of all ages and situations.

 

When not dedicated to the art of counseling, Unique has a love and longing to be swimming on the warm sandy beaches and exploring the possibilities of the culinary world. Unique also loves exploring the sweet spots of Atlanta, from new eateries to events happening all across the metro Atlanta area. Unique is a 90’s baby at heart with a love of 90’s R&B music and classic movies such as Love Jones and Cinderella with Brandi Norwood and the late Whitney Houston.
