Yuri Rhema 

Master's Level Intern

Yuri Rhema is a counseling graduate student and expressive arts practitioner with a background in performing arts and behavioral health under the supervision of Jacinta Wills, LPC, CGS, CAMS II. She is currently pursuing her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Agnes Scott College, where her work is rooted in trauma-informed and culturally responsive care and continues to evolve through clinical training and creative exploration.

Yuri’s foundation in expressive therapies began at Lesley University, where she studied the Expressive Therapies Continuum and explored the role of the arts in processing trauma, emotion, and identity. She is especially drawn to narrative therapy and the ways individuals come to understand and re-author their lived experiences.She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Performing Arts from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in Los Angeles.

 

Storytelling and creative expression remain central to how Yuri understands healing. She approaches therapy as a collaborative and creative process, grounded in curiosity, empathy, and respect for each person’s lived experience. Her work is grounded in a person-centered, integrative framework that incorporates expressive arts, somatic practices, and psychodynamic insights to support healing, self-discovery, and growth.

I hold the belief that creativity is an essential human need. It is not limited to the arts, but lives in how we adapt, how we imagine, and even how we relate to ourselves and others. Through movement, visual art, writing, sensory experiences & even sound; humans have the ability to access emotions and insights that words alone may not always reach
